What It Takes to Start with ServiceMaster Clean®

2026-10-06

Your Path to Ownership

ServiceMaster Clean® has been a leader in commercial cleaning for the past 7 decades, creating cleaner, better spaces for clients across North America. Today, our network gives owners a way to enter the industry with the resources of a billion-dollar, national brand behind their local business.

If you’re considering ownership, you probably want to know what it takes to get started. Here’s what you can expect as you make the move into franchising with ServiceMaster Clean®.

The investment

Getting into business requires an upfront financial commitment, and knowing what that covers can help you plan with confidence. The initial investment ranges from $111,800 to $187,500 and accounts for startup expenses like equipment and supplies, technology, insurance, local advertising, and additional working funds for your first three months. This should give you a clearer picture of the capital needed before you open and a starting point for deciding how ownership fits into your financial plans.

Resources that prepare you to lead

Your investment also gives you access to the training and resources you’ll use to get your business off the ground. Before opening, you’ll complete a comprehensive training program covering the business side of ownership as well as the services your team will provide. You’ll learn about sales and marketing, financial management, and technology, while also gaining access to approved vendors and support for your local sales and marketing plan. This way, you already have an understanding of the business rather than figuring out the basics as you go.

A network to help post-launch

Opening the business is just the beginning of ownership, not the end of the onboarding process.
Once you’re operating, you’ll have access to continued learning through ServiceMaster Brands University and ongoing advisory assistance. You’ll also work with a Business Development Consultant who can provide perspective on areas such as pricing, administrative processes, bookkeeping, and any challenges you might be having. You make the decisions for your local business, with the people and resources available when you need another point of view.

Ready when you are

Starting a business comes with plenty to consider. Knowing the investment and what comes with it makes the path ahead easier to evaluate. If ServiceMaster Clean® feels like the right next move, connect with our franchise development team to start the conversation today.
