Getting You Ready for Business Ownership

Our training program is thorough and covers everything you’ll need to know as a ServiceMaster franchisee, from the basics of operating a business to the ins and outs of our services. Adapting to your new role as a business owner can be daunting, especially if you’re transitioning to a new industry and haven’t run a business before. We’ve developed our program to make your transition as simple and straightforward as possible.

The heart of ServiceMaster Clean training is two weeks of hands-on instruction at our ServiceMaster Academy which is held at our Memphis facility. Before you meet us in Memphis, you’ll be required to complete a webinar that will give you foundational knowledge of what you’ll learn at the Academy, putting you in an even better position to learn and grow. At the Academy, you’ll receive intensive training on what it takes to run a ServiceMaster Clean franchise, from business fundamentals like accounting and marketing to operating our proprietary software. You’ll also learn how to perform our services, including cleaning tasks, carpet cleaning, and hard surface floor care. While you likely won’t spend much time performing these services for customers, it’s important that you have a deep understanding of the work our technicians do.

In addition to your time with us at Academy, you’ll also be expected to complete online modules in ServiceMaster Brands University. There are over 400 training courses and learning plans on SMBU, including safety courses that you and all of your team members will be required to take. Your completion of these courses helps us determine your understanding of the subject matter, which in turn helps your business development consultant give you the best possible franchise support.
