How successful your business becomes in year one depends on you. While you’ll learn everything you need to know during your Academy of Service training and we’re always available to provide support, it’s up to you to put in the work that makes a business thrive. You’ll be the one executing our systems, following up with prospects, making phone calls, and running your business. The success you achieve in your first year of business and beyond reflects your efforts. We understand that this may seem daunting, but not to worry! Since you control the level of revenue and profitability that you’ll enjoy, you’ll have all the resources you need to adjust your approach as you move forward.

A big part of your job – and your success – as a franchise owner is generating sales leads, especially during the early days of your business. There are multiple lead generation activities you can do in order to boost leads, and the key is to try lots of them, as opposed to just one or two. We find that following at least four lead generation activities will accelerate your success. Your BDC, your Scorpion marketing rep, and ServiceMaster Clean’s marketing department will work alongside you to develop, implement, and track the activities you choose.

For many franchisees who don’t come from a sales background, adapting to the sales responsibilities in your new role can feel overwhelming. We’re here to help! During your training at the Academy of Service and continuing for as long as you’re part of the ServiceMaster Clean family, you’ll receive constant sales training. One of the main keys we educate our franchisees on is the concept of consultative selling, which involves educating the customer on how we’ll meet their needs based on the unique cleaning requirements of their property. We also encourage franchisees to take advantage of our franchisee networking groups, where owners can share best practices that lead to more and better bid opportunities and more profitable revenue growth.

It depends on the size of your market. If you’re in a smaller market, it’s possible that you’ll be the only ServiceMaster Clean business in your area. In larger markets, however, it’s not unusual for there to be multiple ServiceMaster Clean franchises. Our franchise development team is aware of this, and we have planned accordingly: each of our territories has been created in a way that will help each owner achieve success. We believe that having multiple businesses in an area increases brand awareness, which is a net positive for all owners! With multiple businesses having their yellow service vehicles out on the road, and marketing activity for each business driving awareness to who we are and what we do, everybody wins.
